Deep Dive

The meanings of the “Value” ratings.
A = Talent choice you can’t go wrong with
B = Solid choice but has some pros/cons to be weighted
C = Very niche in terms of usefulness
F = Yikes

mw-tier-1

Mist Wrap | Raid Value: B | M+ Value: A
Mistwrap excels at single target spot healing where you find yourself needing to cast Enveloping Mist to keep certain players such as tanks alive during the encounter.

In mythic+ Mistwrap excels very far ahead as alternating between Vivify and Enveloping Mist is pretty much the standard way of spot healing damage that occurs in dungeon content.

Chi Wave | Raid Value: F | M+ Value: C
Currently Chi Wave falls very far behind in terms of output to Chi Burst so there is never really an opportunity to take it with the exception of mythic+ if you find yourself not needing Mist Wrap and also being in a dungeon where you could accidentally pull mobs with Chi Burst, but even then… it’s still not a talent I would recommend.

Chi Burst | Raid Value: A | M+ Value B
In raids, Chi Burst will be the go to choice for healing output as its a no mana spell that will hit a majority of the raid with the right positioning when casted.

In mythic+ Chi Burst can be considered if you find AoE healing lacking such as during the Bursting affix weeks or on bosses that deal a significant amount of AoE damage that you are having a hard time keeping up with.

mw-tier-2

These talents come down to personal choice, but it is worth mentioning that Tiger’s Lust can be very useful on encounters with roots or movement impairing effects on allies.

mw-tier-3

Lifecycles | Raid Value: A | M+ Value: A
This talent works in direct synergy with Mistwrap as it excels when you make good use of both Vivify and Enveloping Mist, so consider taking it with Mist Wrap or whenever you find yourself alternating into a more single target spot healing rotation during raids.

In dungeon content Lifecycles again works really well as you will need to spot heal people frequently, so the mana saved from this talent is amazing.

Spirit of the Crane | Raid Value: B | M+ Value: B

At the moment this talent just simply cannot compete with the other two choices in this row for mana regen and without any other benefits to taking the talent, it leaves it undesired. You could use this talent if you find that you are not able to properly manage Lifecycles or Mana Tea, but you will be putting yourself into a lackluster talent option by doing so.

Mana Tea | Raid Value: A | M+ Value A
This is the typical go to talent choice for raids as it allows ten seconds of healing output where you hardly have to worry about your mana spending. This is where you can spam Vivify’s into the raid, while finishing the last second remaining with a essence font that will entirely benefit from the 50% reduced cost even if you are still channeling after mana tea has expired.

In mythic+ this talent can be a great choice for tyrannical weeks where the boss fights are drawn out and you will need to ensure you have plenty of mana over the duration of the encounter.

mw-tier-4

Currently in this talent row, Ring of Peace is just way to versatile and useful, so take it cause its an amazingly fun talent to use and is arguably one of the most versatile abilities in the game.

Healing Elixir | Raid Value: C | Mythic+ Value: C
When debating between direct healing or damage reduction, usually DR comes out on top and that is exactly why healing elixir lacks a reason for us to take it in any form of content currently.

Diffuse Magic | Raid Value: B | Mythic+ Value: B
Great damage reduction cooldown when an encounter has heavy dealing magic damage. So think bosses like Sivara, Radiance, Behemoth, Ashvane, Orgozoa, Queens Court, Za… ok yea just take this talent in most cases.

Dampen Harm | Raid Value: B | Mythic+ Value: B
Some encounters that don’t have heavy hitting magic damage mechanics (Mekkatorque) you should be considering Dampen Harm to utilize for damage reduction

Summon Jade Serpent Statue | Raid Value: A | Mythic+ Value:
A great talent you cant go wrong with in any form of content. It isn’t always the “best” choice but its viable none the less on every type of encounter.

Refreshing Jade Wind | Raid Value: B | Mythic+ Value: B
Great in raid / dungeon encounters where 5+ players (including yourself) are stacked and are in need of constant healing due to some form of ticking damage or aoe damage that goes onto the players frequently enough.

Invoke Chi-Ji the Red Crane | Raid Value: B | Mythic+ Value: B
This talent actually can do significant HPS so if you need the extra HPS during a more focused portion of the encounter this is a great talent to run. Also great for Tyrannical weeks where you are going to need big HPS such as Galv or Coven.

Focused Thunder | Raid Value: C | Mythic+ Value: A
Unfortunately Focused Thunder does not have any special interaction with Secret Infusion, one of our bis azerite traits, meaning its value isn’t worth taking over something like Upwelling in a raid environment. However due to the fact that Essence Font isn’t very useful in m+ as a healing spell, Focused Thunder is an awesome talent to take for dungeon content.

Upwelling | Raid Value: A | Mythic+ Value: C
Super strong talent in raid since a lot of our AoE healing comes from Essence Font initial hits with Font of Life Azerite Traits. In mythic plus, we dont want to use Essence Font for healing since there is less targets and the healing isn’t significant enough for mythic+ based damage the group will take.

Rising Mist | Raid Value: C | Mythic+ Value: B
As of 8.2.5 Rising mist continues to under perform the other choices on this row, but with some buffs coming to 8.3 we might see its ….. rising…. performance. Its ok to take in M+ if you aren’t worried about healing checks and want to be able to focus more on DPS.
